Almost every region along the Eastern coast of the North Sea, from Sör-Tröndelag in the North to Hauts-de-France in the South, are members of the North Sea Commission. We also have some very active members from the United Kingdom. However, there is potential for more UK councils to join.

The more counties/regions we represent, the stronger is our voice when we speak for the interests of the North Sea Region, and the more value do we give our members as a forum for cooperation and benchmarking.

With Brexit coming up, we must work hard to ensure that there will be more cooperation around our common challenges in the North Sea, not less.

On the 23 March, the eve of the next ExCom meeting, NSC President Kerstin Brunnström has invited councillors from all North Sea counties and unitary authorities in the UK to an information session in Southend-on-Sea, where ExCom members will inform about the benefits of the NSC membership.
