The North Sea Commission Strategy Task Force met on 29 November in Brussels to discuss the ongoing work with and future process of the NSC Strategy post 2020. The meeting included a discussion of the aim of the strategy, the future role of NSC and future challenges for the North Sea Region.

Possible scenarios for the next strategy period were discussed, such as climate change, demographic development, energy transition, new transport solutions, as well as labour and competence needs. The group also discussed the desired position of the North Sea Commission in 2027 and the balance between projects and policy work. A presentation was held on the member regions’ challenges, based on the regions’ own regional development strategies.  

The main purpose of this meeting was to prepare for ExCom 11 January in Groningen, where the strategy process and future challenges will be discussed.
