Focus for the North Sea Commission’s work

The NSR 2020 strategy document defines the following focus areas under the strategic priority for ‘Attractive and Sustainable Communities’:

  • Competitiveness of sectors and enterprises
  • Demography
  • Development of skills and employablity

How do we work

Transfer and exchange of knowledge and best practice

Serve as a platform for development of transnational projects

Serve as a platform for discussing policy implications

Formulate policy positions and statements in response to public consultations

Organise stakeholder events to discuss policy implications and encourage knowledge exchange and transnational project development

Since 1 January 2017, a new thematic group with the working title “Attractive and sustainable communities working group” is being formed. They will have their first meeting 1-3 March where they will set their priorities..

The group is politically led by a Chair and two vice-chairs and supported by an advisor
